Banned

Posted by TheMaster Jan. 26, 2008 @ 6:21 PM EST

Twice in one week. It's like 2006 all over again.

Edit:
ERROR - You have been temporarily banned from posting to the BBS for 3 days. You have 1 day, 19 hours, 8 minutes and 5 seconds left until your ban is lifted. Do not attempt to create a secondary account to get around this ban. If we find evidence of you doing so all of your accounts will be terminated.

Reason for ban: "WAH, WAH." Insulting a mod after he warned posters to stop being dumb in a thread? Gee that was smart. --avie

Apparently you're not allowed to point out obvious alts anymore, and "WAH, WAH" is a horrendously offensive insult.

Robot, the amulet's flashing!

Posted by TheMaster Dec. 29, 2007 @ 2:31 PM EST

Get ready for 30 minutes of action!

Faster than a speeding arrow,
and tougher than a fist of diamond!
Stronger than the leaping wolf,
but also sensitive like a girl!

With his amulet, and his robotic friend,
he wrestles with unruly, horrible men,
and if they knock him down, then he'll get up again.

Just like a phoenix!

Will Captain Helix!

Yes Captain Helix!

It's Captain Helix, yeah yeah!

CAPTAIN CAPTAIN CAPTAIN CAPTAIN HELIX!

And Robot! Ro-oh-oh-bot!

CAPTAIN CAPTAIN CAPTAIN CAPTAIN HELIX!

New flash, maybe

Posted by TheMaster Dec. 15, 2007 @ 4:44 PM EST

I'm torn between two ideas.

1. DAVRO OR DENNIS?
Based on the Nevermind The Buzzcocks section, players would have to decide if a statement was about Bobby Davro of Les Dennis. I would probably have TheD-LucksEdition fill in as a cheap replacement for Simon Amstell.

2. Eddie Carr
Montage of Eddie Carr pictures set to a sad song, probably "Bright Eyes", as a tribute to the great man. RIP.

Or feel free to throw up some extra suggestions, just nothing that requires any real animation or coding.

Topic of the Day

Posted by TheMaster Nov. 6, 2007 @ 5:27 PM EST

I've decided to make a list of what I feel is the best topic I notice each day. To qualify, a topic doesn't have to have been made on the day I update this list, it just has to be the day I noticed it on. I'll try and update this every day.

06/11/2007 - Can toddlers ride dogs like horses? by McPaper.

07/11/2007 - None.

08/11/2007 - Last.Fm Club by CapnCruchDaPimp (Older topic, as there was nothing worthwhile posted today, and I didn't want to have none two days in a row.)

09/11/2007 - None.

10/11/2007 - Hypnotoad..what the fuck? by Stomer (While slightly poorly executed, the concept is clever, and Futurama references are always good.)

11/11/2007 - None.

12/11/2007 - Madeline McCann by Sidorio

13/11/2007 - None

14/11/2007 - what anime character would you date by Jeriad-440 but credit for awesome goes to g0t and Rabid-Echidna

TV Shows you need to see

Posted by TheMaster Sep. 19, 2007 @ 3:56 PM EDT

I fancy writing about stuff I enjoy watching, but I don't think it's thread worthy, so I'll stick it here instead.

Anyway.

Battlestar Galactica
I was a fan of the original series, ever since catching the film version of the first 3 episodes on TV, and decided to check out the new version, to see how it stood up. After watching the pilot I was very underwhelmed. It had none of the fun of the original serious, which is all I was looking for at the time. I didn't really want to watch a remake, I wanted to watch more episodes of the orginal.

Still, the cliffhanger ending of the miniseries, and the fact the DVD was on offer, convinced me to buy Season 1, and getting into it I thoroughly enjoyed it, and bought Season 2 soon after, then Season 3 on the day it came out, even skipping College to do so.

I eagerly await Season 4.

Doctor Who
I was staying at my Uncle's once, and he said the show was a good laugh to watch, because of the ridiculously cheesy plots and effects, so we watched the episode that was on the TV, "School Reunion". I enjoyed it, and went and watched all of the Eccleston and Tennant episodes over the next few weeks, and thought it was a decent little show, but nothing to shout about.

Then I decided to get into the original series. I went out and bought Genesis of the Daleks, and episode starring Tom Baker, and was blown away. It was much better than I was expecting, and topped any of the new series by miles. The serial approach worked so much better than the episodic nature of the new series, and allowed for much more in depth stories.

I now own all of the DVD's released thus far, and a decent amount of merchandise, and I would have to say that it's my favourite TV show ever made.

Firefly
I bought this to fill the gap in my TV watching left by Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who and Heroes, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The whole "Cowboys in Space" thing works really well, and the River Tam sub-plot is also excellent. She's one of my favourite TV characters now.

Heroes
Watched the first episode on TV because there was nothing else on, and got hooked. Downloaded the first series because I couldn't wait a week for the next episode. Ace show, can't wait for the next series.

Spaced
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost never fail to disappoint. Got into this one after a recommendation from someone, and expected top quality stuff from it, and I wasn't disappointed. The pop culture references make this one a firm favourite for me. The episode that ends exactly like "The Empire Strikes back" (complete with Mike yawning to replicate Chewie's line) is one of the funniest things on TV.

Black Books
Bill Bailey and Dylan Moran own a book shop, and get into hilarious situations. Simple enough, but very well done. Bernard Black is always hilarious, who doesn't like an irate drunk Irishman? Loads of classic moments, like Manny locking Bernard out, the Subuteo man in the electrician's hair and Manny's "Dave's Syndrome". Well worth a watch.

I'll write about these later

I'm Alan Partridge

Monkey Dust

Trigger Happy TV

Red Dwarf

Blackadder

The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy

Originality is overated

Posted by TheMaster Sep. 10, 2007 @ 1:37 PM EDT

Paradox made an awesome users list, so I'll make one. A better one. With blackjack, and hookers, in fact, forget the list and the blackjack.

Good People

TheD-LucksEdition - If I don't speak to him, I forget to watch things on TV. He's like a human TV guide, and his knowledge of adverts is unsurpassed.
BlueFlameSkulls - His pranks are so frequent I can't tell when he's being serious, but he's still ace. In fact, all 7 of him are.
MickTheChampion - Made "The Final Countdown", easily the best thread ever, and wrote Skeleton Gangrape. Plus, he introduced me to The Pogues.
DanAbnormal - Doesn't come here much anymore, but he's still ace. He told me about a good amount of the comedy I watch, and showed me a couple of good bands.
Sidorio - All around good user, and a Doctor Who fan.
TheDoctor - Great story writer, and always does ace stuff in MSpaint threads.
Citricsquid - He's usually just alright, but on Halloween he made an Alan Partridge mask on the back of a Shreddies box, causing unprecedented levels of awesomeness.

Rubbish People

I'm only putting the lowest of the low here, because most users are rubbish.

mariobro42 - Easily the worst user on the site. Laughably pathetic, some of the stuff he comes out with is comedy gold, like the time he said he's never had a wank, or when he said he's only ever fancied one lass, which is clearly that one from WarioWare.
kidray76 - Former NEFR members know what I'm talking about. Thinks being a review mod actually means anything. Takes the internet seriously. I'll probably get all my reviews deleted for saying this.
Psycho - He's 11, lulz.
Mechabloby - Seriously, he isn't witty or intelligent. Stop giving him attention. He posts piles upon piles of garbage threads every day, and gets praised for it. He's makes it painfully clear that he wants to be known as a furry, mentioning it in almost every post, then goes and complains about others doing it. He's the worst of the "furry fabbots", and that's definitely saying something.

I'll add more as I remember/notice them.
